Human Para is excited to announce that Otakaro Pathways has received a grant to continue their work on MAP and Crohn’s disease. With this funding, Otakaro Pathways has been able to purchase a state of the art DNA sequencer to conduct research on cell wall deficient mycobacterial (CWDM) forms of MAP cultured from Crohn’s patients. The grant will allow Otakaro Pathways to gather data in an effort to investigate the link between CWDM and Crohn’s disease, and allow exploration of the molecular structure of CWDM forms.
Led by John Aitken, Otakaro Pathways has been conducting research into the role that mycobacteria (particularly MAP) may play in Crohn’s and other immune conditions for over 10 years. John has discussed Otakaro’s work at conferences sponsored by Human Para in Chicago, Philadelphia and Berkley and continues to provide articles detailing Otakaro’s progress and critical work on MAP for our community. The latest installment can be found below.
