#GivingTuesday2019

Make a difference for those with Crohn’s disease and other MAP-related conditions this holiday season!

What is Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday is is a worldwide campaign which occurs on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a way to begin the giving season and contribute charitable donations to nonprofits. This year, Giving Tuesday is on December 3, 2019. By participating in #GivingTuesday, you can spread awareness and raise funds for charities like Human Para.

How You Can Get Involved

This year, Human Para is raising funds for new MAP research projects. We have been working diligently with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, McGill University and Otakaro Pathways on a pilot testing study. Final details and approvals are ongoing. As always, ALL funds raised on #GivingTuesday will go directly to MAP research. Please help us by supporting high quality MAP research this giving season.

Donations can be made directly on our Facebook Page with no transaction fees, or via PayPal.

Consider becoming a sustaining member, by making a monthly pledge of support to fund MAP research throughout the year!

Your Donation will be Doubled!

Thanks to a generous donor, all donations made to Human Para through the Giving Tuesday campaign will be doubled, up to a total of $25,000!

What Your Donation Means

Since Giving Tuesday 2017, Human Para has:

  1. Hosted 19 researchers who presented the latest on MAP science at a 2-day conference in Berkeley, CA, including issuing CME credit. Free video replays for all of our conferences are available online.
  2. Fully funded our inaugural Crohn’s/MAP Testing study with 6 independent testing sites and 3 locations, which drew a total of 201 volunteer samples, including whole genome sequencing of 40 MAP positive isolates. We are looking forward to publication of this landmark study in the Spring of 2020.
  3. Began a pilot testing study in partnership with Otakaro Pathways, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and McGill University.
  4. Supported Valerie Joly and Crohn’s Warrior Fights, who hosted a successful golf tournament in Denver, NC to benefit the Crohn’s/MAP Testing Study.
  5. Answered thousands of patient and researcher inquiries on email and social media platforms.
  6. Redesigned our website to make resources more readily available and up to date.
  7. Released a Human Para forum platform.
  8. Distributed a quarterly newsletter detailing summaries of the latest scientific research.
  9. Added doctors who may be willing to discuss MAP with patients to our confidential list.
  10. Published interesting and innovative articles written by MAP researchers around the world.
  11. Created high quality patient resources, like the Patient Information Pack.
  12. Assisted in publishing a Letter to the Editor in response to the 2018 Crohn’s Guidelines.
  13. Encouraged collaborations and education surrounding MAP and atypical mycobacterial in immune conditions, giving all researchers and patients a voice.

Human Para has a dedicated staff of unpaid volunteers, who work tirelessly to promote education and research into MAP in their spare time. Thanks to these volunteers, Human Para has few overhead costs. The following is a breakdown of our 2018 expenditures:
