Consensus Article from the 2017 MAP Conference

Introduction

by Dr. J. Todd Kuenster, primary author and conference organizer

I am pleased to share the consensus article from the 2017 MAP Conference held in Philadelphia in March. This effort represents a historic collaboration of the world’s experts on Mycobacterium avium spp. paratuberculosis  (MAP), who are concerned about the impact of MAP on human health. I hope that this article not only provides insight to the medical community about the current state of knowledge about MAP, but also opens the door to the much needed research funding required to increase our knowledge on how MAP affects human health. Finally, the goal of this collaboration is to advance better treatment options for patients suffering from MAP-driven conditions.
