#GivingTuesday2018

November 27th marks the 2nd year of Human Para’s #GivingTuesday campaign. 2017 was a huge success, raising $9,254.26 to kick off the MAP/Crohn’s Testing Study.

Human Para’s #GivingTuesday2018 campaign is hoping to raise $5,000 to fund our next MAP research project. After the Berkeley conference and discussion by the Board, we are actively seeking partners for a PEDIATRIC testing study. Details will be released as soon as they are finalized, but be assured: ALL funds raised on #GivingTuesday will go directly to MAP research.

And your funds could be TRIPLED this Tuesday!! Facebook and PayPal have pledged $7 million dollars to double your donation, beginning at 8:00 a.m. EST on November 27th, until funds run out. And a generous HPF community member has pledged to double donations up to $2,000 as well. Whether you donate $5 or $500, every little bit helps.</span

How to Maximize Your Donation with Matching Funds

Donations to nonprofits made on the Human Para page using our “Donate” button on November 27th will be matched until the $7 million in matching funds run out. The match will begin at 8AM EST (5AM PST).

And as always, Facebook waives processing fees for donations made to nonprofits.

Here’s how you can help:

  1. Like our Facebook Page.
  2. Share our #GivingTuesday post by using the hashtags #GivingTuesday2018 and #MAP2CURE.
  3. Consider making a donation through our Facebook page on November 27th. To have your donation matched, you must donate through our Facebook page “Donate” button or Campaign as close to 8:00 a.m. Eastern standard time as possible.

Don’t have the ability to donate at this time – no problem! We understand how devastating immune diseases can be, both physically AND financially, to patients and their families. We are happy to provide the opportunity to fund MAP research for those who are able to use their resources in this way.

Thank you all for your generosity!

Since Giving Tuesday 2017, Human Para has:

  2. Released a set of videos, free of charge, from the Berkeley conference (more to come!)
  3. Fully funded our inaugural Crohn’s/MAP Testing study with 6 independent testing sites and 3 locations, which drew a total of 201 volunteer samples.
  4. Supported Valerie Joly and Crohn’s Warrior Fights, who hosted a successful golf tournament in Denver, NC to benefit the Crohn’s/MAP Testing Study.
  5. Answered hundreds of patient and researcher inquiries on email and social media platforms.
  6. Redesigned our website to make resources more readily available.
  7. Released a Human Para forum platform in October.
  8. Distributed a quarterly newsletter detailing summaries of the latest scientific research.
  9. Added doctors who may be willing to discuss MAP with patients to our confidential list.
  10. Published interesting and innovative articles written by MAP researchers around the world.
  11. Created high quality patient resources, like the Patient Information Pack.
  12. Assisted in publishing a Letter to the Editor in response to the 2018 Crohn’s Guidelines.
  13. Encouraged collaborations and education surrounding MAP and atypical mycobacterial in immune conditions, giving all researchers and patients a voice.

Human Para has a dedicated staff of unpaid volunteers, who work tirelessly to promote education and research into MAP in their spare time. Thanks to these volunteers, Human Para has few overhead costs. We may be small, but we are mighty!
